Breath Breaks for Energy & Health
By, Libby Tobias
1.Remember to take a few deep belly breathe around noon and 4pm. Lung function fluctuates through the day. Lung function is at it’s lowest around noon (good time for a belly breath) and highest in the late afternoon (taking a few good breaths to maximize that peak).
2.How to Belly Breath – Breathe in and out through your nose which warms and filters the air. Place one hand on your belly and the other hand on your ribs so you can feel the movement of breath. Inflate your belly when you inhale and deflate when you exhale. Allow your belly to rise, your ribs to expand and your chest to inflate, and then exhale, feeling your chest and belly deflate.
3. Energy Breathing – Stand with your feet a little wider then hip width apart, place each hand onto the opposite shoulder, and twist from side to side, matching breath with the movement and inhaling through the nose, exhaling through the mouth. Do this for 20 to 50 breaths – it’s a quick energizer, and it really gets the spinal fluid flowing.
4.The more you breathe through your nose the less likely you are to catch a cold and cough.
5.Remember to take a deep belly breath every time the phone rings. J
6.The payoffs of breathing properly are huge: your heart rate and pressure drop, you’re better able to combat anxiety and pain, and more essential oxygen reaches every part of your body.
7.Sunrise energy breathing – Start with arms by your sides. As you inhale, raise arms out to he sides and overhead eventually bringing palms together. Exhale return arms down by sides. Move slowly… Repeat for 5-10 breaths.
8.Remember when you breath well you live well.
9. What you do 20,000 times a day? You breathe.
Mind is the Master of the senses and breath is the Master of the Mind.
